We will discuss why friendships are important; how to foster friendtimacy; how to use technology to connect during COVID; and when to look ahead. Are you opening yourself up to have friendtimacy with your Comadres or Compadres? If you are, how can you tell? If you are not, what can you do to change it and what keeps getting in the way?

Joan Didion once said: “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” What is the story that set your life into motion, and how can you recreate it on the page in glittering detail? In this writing workshop, you will learn how to excavate your memory for key experiences as well as innovative craft techniques to spark those moments back to life.

What are you reading? We want to talk books, authors, genres.  We want to know which books are being made into movies and who the stars will be.  And if you need recommendations for a good romance, a scary thriller, a dazzling memoir, or a cute children’s book for your toddler, we can help.

Room 4:  Civic Engagement: Paths to Public Service and How Can You Impact Your Community with
Nora de Hoyos Comstock and Victoria DeFrancesco Soto
In 2021, the first woman and first woman of color was sworn in as Vice President of America. However, women still make up less than 30% of elected officials nationwide. We’ll discuss paths to Public Service and how You can impact your community.

Room 1:  Nutrition & Wellness with Dr. Sylvia Klinger of Hispanic Nutrition
Latino Traditions and Culture Impacting our Food Choices. Hispanic bold flavors and highly desired, ingredients vary by country based on the many variations available in their regions. This session will guide you to become more aware of the Hispanic hero foods in Hispanic cuisine, which will help us be more effectively through a better understanding of our culture, family dynamics and the foods we love.

Room 2:  Parenting During a Pandemic with author and Comadre Karen Valentin (Breakout sponsored by St. David’s Foundation)
“I Love You and I’m Sick to Death of You.” Addressing and understanding each other’s behaviors, habits and mental health while being together all day, every day. How do we set boundaries, stay consistent, express frustrations in constructive ways, and give our children permission to do the same with us? This is a challenging new reality not just for us as parents, but for our children as well.

Room 3:  Diverse Stories of Latinos in America: A Conversation with the new American Latino Museum

A conversation with the new American Latino Museum.  Latino communities have been an integral part of the fabric of this nation for over 500 years. Presentation will highlight the diverse stories of these Latinos and their contributions to America’s military, sciences, arts, civil rights, and economic power.

Art can be a tool for communication, personal development, team building and entrepreneurship.  Let’s get creative.
