CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) Info

April 2022

Queridas Comadres,

Given the recent changes of national, state and local government Covid-19 protocols, Las Comadres Para Las Americas is lifting the requirement of in-person waivers. We are, however, requiring that each region follow their local government Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions, set for the time of scheduled gathering.

The Board of Directors strongly encourages that only vaccinated participants attend events (unless there are underlying issues) and that the wearing of masks at crowded gatherings is supported, as well as washing of hands frequently;  the maintaining of social distance as appropriate; and that events/gatherings are outdoors whenever possible.

Comadres with symptoms, positive tests or exposure to someone with the Covid-19 virus should not attend any Comadres events until they have met the current quarantine or self-isolation requirements of your area.

Please note that the requirements that we have stipulated above may and will be updated again if circumstances change.

Thank you for your understanding and support of Las Comadres.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS

TRANSMISSION:  Coronavirus aka COVID-19 is mainly spread by sick people through droplets created when they talk, cough and sneeze, and when you touch contaminated objects.

SYMPTOMS:  Fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, diarrhea.  Seek immediate medical attention if you think you’ve been exposed or develop symptoms.

PREVENTION:  Maintain good personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not readily available. Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your face.

Practice social distancing everywhere you go.  Wear your mask every time you go out of your home.  Avoid exposure to large groups. And, if you feel unwell, stay inside and call your doctor.  Do not travel if you are sick.

VACCINE:  Good news! There are now several vaccines against COVID-19.  Please talk to your doctor or medical provider about how, when and where to get treatment.
