Benefits to Joining Las Comadres

Greetings, Comadres,

A new member recently asked what were the benefits of being a Comadre?

The 3 C’s immediately popped into my head: Connection, Community & Culture.

Connection is important, especially now when we are all stuck at home. Our face-to-face meeting has been replaced by video conferencing. Though we can all agree that zoom fatigue is rampant, Comadres often share how much they  look forward to our online Comadrazos and special groups such as Chair Yoga, Crochet Club, and Happy Hour Fridays. Our connections are energizing.

Community is created from our Comadres’ connection. No Comadre stands alone! The one good thing that has come out of this past crazy year, is that we all recognize the importance of connecting with others, including family, friends and Comadres. We are here for each other, whether you want to discuss the “good old days,” share a recipe, gossip about Latinx celebrities, need a sympathetic ear, discuss the latest Book of the Month, and so much more.

Celebrating our Culture is paramount and at the heart of Las Comadres. We embrace and celebrate our differences and similarities regardless of our Latina ethnicity. Before the pandemic, some Comadres Networks celebrated our culture by visiting diverse museums, art shows, theaters, and more fun outtings. We also celebrate our Latinidad through our Comadres & Friends National Latino Book Club with a variety of books for all ages, on all genres, written by Latino authors.

If you are already part of Las Comadre, thank you for your continued support. Our connection keeps us strong and committed as women, as Latinas, and as Comadres.

If you are not yet a Comadre, consider joining this amazing organization of 7,000+ Latina women around the world who want to make a difference for themselves, their families and their communities.
